TRAFFIC UNIT

Working With Our Community to Make Our Streets Safer

The traffic unit of the Plantation Police Department is comprised of eight Motorcycle Officers, one DUI Officer, one Sergeant and one Community Service Aide (CSA). There are thirty School Crossing Guards that are assigned to traffic and work all the posts around the city to keep the children safe going to and returning from school. The Traffic unit also consists of two Volunteer Parking Enforcement Specialists that enforce handicap and other parking violations around the city.

Responsible for enforcing traffic laws, this unit also investigates vehicle related accidents, conducts DUI (driving under the influence) sweeps aimed at deterring impaired drivers and utilizes various form of speed measuring devices to identify and apprehend speeders and others driving in a dangerous manner.  A number of programs have been implemented by this unit in the past year, all aimed at slowing motorists down and making our streets safe for all motorists.
