The
Operations Bureau consists of two divisions - the
Patrol Division and
the Investigations
Division. A number of specialty units
are also a part of the Operations Bureau.
Deputy
Chief
James
Larsen
oversees
the Operations Bureau. Deputy Chief Larsen
has 26 years police experience, 24 years with the Plantation
Police Department.
He
has an AA degree from Suffolk Community College,
a BS degree in Business Management from the
University of Phoenix and an MBA in Human Resources. Captain Larsen
is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute's
Command Officer course. He

Patrol
Division
District One encompasses the area from the west side
of University Drive to the western city limits, from
the southern to northern city limits. The 1990 census
reported the population of this district at 32,852
people. There has been considerable growth and development
within this district.
District
1 and District Two are headed by Captain
Frank McMenamin, who also oversees the Special Weapons
and Tactics Team (SWAT), the Crisis Response Team
and the Street Crimes Unit. Captain McMenamin has
been with the Plantation Police Department for 18
years. He has an Associates Degree in Pharmacy and
is currently working on his Bachelors Degree in Criminal
Justice. He is a Graduate of the Southern Police
Institute's Command Officers Development Course and
was named the Plantation Police Department's Officer

Serving
as Executive Officer for District Two is Lieutenant
Kenny Kilbride. Lieutenant Kilbride has
been employed with the Plantation Police Department
for 23 years. He was selected Officer of the Year
in 1992. He has his Bachelor's Degree in Business
Management from the University of Phoenix and is
currently working on his MBA. Lieutenant Kilbride
also attended the 35th Southern Police Institute,
Command Officers Development Course. Lieutenant Kilbride

Serving
as Executive Officer for the Patrol Division is Lieutenant
Michael DeLeo. Lieutenant DeLeo has been a Police Officer
with our department for seven years. He has worked
in Patrol, in Investigations and on the Crisis Response
Team. He has a Bachelor's Degree from the University
of Florida and a Juris Doctorate from Nova Southeastern

District Two encompasses the area from the east side
of University Drive to the eastern city limits (just
east of 441), from the southern to the northern city
limits. The 1990 census reported the population of
this district at 32,869.
Investigations Division
The
Investigations Division is headed by Captain Erik
Funderburk. Captain Funderburk started his career
with the City of Plantation Police Department in 1980
as a Police Service Aide. He graduated from the Police
Academy in 1982. His various assignments over the years
have included Patrol, Training, Investigative Services,
Tactical Units, and Internal Affairs. He attended the
Southern Police Institutes Command Officers Development

The
Investigations Division is responsible for the investigation
of all criminal cases reported to the department,
is a vital part of the Operations Bureau. This
division also prepares cases to be presented to the
District Attorney and includes two major crime teams
that work specific cases, including homicides,
robberies, burglaries and aggravated batteries. There
are also a number of specialized units under this division,
including a Juvenile Unit, Identification Unit and
the VIN (Vice, Intelligence and Narcotics) Division. |
