The
Plantation Police Explorers Post is a community
service-oriented program aimed at young adults,
aged 14-21 who have a GPA (grade point average)
of 2.0 or higher and are of good moral character.
It
allows these potential Law Enforcement recruits
the opportunity to observe
law enforcement professionals while they perform
their daily duties. Additionally, the Plantation
Police Department Explorers contribute numerous
hours of volunteer service to their community.
The
Plantation Police Explorers compete against other
explorers in both State and local competitions.
Without exception they place among the top in all
events. The Plantation Police Explorers Post was
honored as Police Explorer Post of the Year for
1999. These continued accomplishments are due to
the dedication of the Explorers and their police
officer advisors.
The
Plantation Police Explorer Post participated in
the 2003 State Police Explorer Competition in St.
Petersburg from June 22-28, 2003. Our competition
team challenged explorer post from a variety of
local police, sheriffs, and federal law enforcement
agencies.
The explorers competed in the following scenarios:
In-Progress - Bank Robbery, Felony Traffic Stop,
Bomb Threat at a Sensitive Location, Traffic
Crash - Fatal Pedestrian, Crisis Intervention,
Search and Arrest, and Crime Scene.
Once again we are proud to announce that they were
awarded 1st Place State Champions for the second
year in a row.
