| The
Police/Fire Telecommunications Center is the "nerve
center" of the department and is the starting point
for all calls for service received from the public. The dispatchers
provide a central communications link for the officers
and firefighters and conduct computer searches
for the officers, relaying requests for driver's license
and vehicle information requests and criminal history
searches. Advances in technology for this center include
a total upgrade of the E-911 system in 1999.
