The Plantation Police Department dispatches one officer to audible residential alarms, fire alarms and medical alarms. Two officers are dispatched to audible and silent alarms of businesses as well as silent alarms of residents.

Residents and businesses are allowed three false alarms per a twelve month period. After the fourth and any subsequent false alarms, reimbursement to the city is levied. After the fifth false alarm within a twelve month period the resident and/or business is required to attend a mandatory alarm hearing where a review of the underlying facts of each false alarm will be addressed and measures will be considered to prevent the recurrence of further false alarms.
