The Operations Bureau consists of two divisions - the Patrol Division and the Investigations Division.  A number of specialty units are also a part of the Operations Bureau.       

Deputy Chief James Larsen
commands the Operations Bureau. Deputy Chief Larsen has 28 years of police experience, 26 years of which are with the Plantation Police Department. He has an AA degree from Suffolk Community College, a BS degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and an MBA in Human Resources. Deputy Chief Larsen is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute Command Officer Development course and a graduate of the 219th session of the FBI National Academy. Patrol Division

The department uses the highly successful Districting Concept for Patrol assignments and accountability.

Captain Brian Hager is the District Commander for District 1. .

Investigations Division

Captain Funderburk is a lifelong Broward County native who started his career with the City of Plantation Police Department in 1980. His various assignments over the years have included Patrol, Support Services, Investigative Services, Tactical, and Internal Affair’s Units. He is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute Command Officer Development Course, and has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Columbia Southern University. The Investigations Division is responsible for the investigation of all criminal cases reported to the department, is a vital part of the Operations Bureau.  This division also prepares cases to be presented to the District Attorney and includes two major crime teams that work specific cases, including homicides, robberies, burglaries and aggravated batteries.  There are also a number of specialized units under this division, including a Juvenile Unit, Identification Unit and the VIN (Vice, Intelligence and Narcotics) Division.
