SEVERE WEATHER UPDATES
Information

Emergency Notifcations

Of all the items you put into your emergency supply kit, the single most import tool you need before, during and immediately after a significant event is accurate and timely information.

Information about where to get necessary supplies, warnings about impending situations, cautions and methods to protect yourselves and your families.

The City of Plantation uses a variety of methods to keep residents informed about the progress of significant events occurring in our area and the precautions, if any, residents should take.

Weather Emergencies

NOAADuring an impending weather emergency the Fire Department receives regular updates from The Broward County Emergency Operations Center (EOC), The National Hurricane Center, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).National Weather Service

This information is then disseminated, to our residents, through the various systems the City employs.

Citizens Emergency Hotline:
During a significant event a resident can dial 954-585-2363 and get the latest information about the progress of the event.  Should actions be necessary, those directions will be given as part of the message.

Website Severe Weather Updates:
Those with connectivity may log onto the City’s website at www.plantation.org and link to the Severe Weather page.  The same information contained above will be posted to the web page.

During a significant event a hot button will be posted on the City’s Home Page.

Plantation Information Radio – 1620 AM

As part of your emergency kit, you should have a battery operated, AM radio.  During a crisis the two most reliable forms of communications are landline phones and AM radio.

Plantation Information Radio, 1620 AM, operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  During a significant event, the station only broadcasts news and information about the event.

The information will be the same as what is provided via the hotline and the website. However, more detailed information on grocery store and gas station openings, restored City services, and cleanup details may also be posted.
