There’s a lot more to operating the largest volunteer fire department in the State of Florida than just big red trucks, with flashing lights, racing to help someone in need.
Behind the scenes are many dedicated and talented people taking care of every day issues like finances and budgets, records and paperwork, typing, filing, maintenance and repairs and very simply, the business of business.
These people make up the Plantation Fire Department’s Support and Maintenance staffs. The Finance Chief, Support Chief, secretaries, mechanics and maintenance workers keep the department running.
Administrative Support Division and Finance Division
The administrative support services division, supervised by Support Chief Marti Terziu, is responsible for coordinating efforts of the secretarial/clerical staff, to ensure efficient and effective service. The Finance Division supervised by Finance Chief Ann Rosenthal, provides Budget and Financial Management, monitoring all Department expenditures, development and administration of the Department’s annual budget, as well as the coordination of all special projects within the department.
Each day, these unsung heroes answer literally hundreds of requests for services. No matter what the need, no request is ever too great, and they always have smiles on their faces.
Mechanics and Maintenance Division
Keeping those big red trucks rolling, and operating at peak efficiency requires dedicated skill, knowledge and expertise. This kind of experience is found in our Emergency Vehicle Technicians (EVT). The EVTs employ their hands-on knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, fire pump and electrical systems to ensure the vehicles are as well prepared to save lives as the people who ride in them.Another challenge for this hard-working group is keeping up with the demands of six fire stations, a headquarters facility and training tower. This “none-to-simple” task is also entrusted to the Maintenance Division.
