The Plantation Fire Department's Public Information
Office endeavors to keep the public informed of any and all
newsworthy events.
The office of Public Information, coordinated
by Public Information Officer, Joel Gordon, has established
the Plantation Fire Department News Center. Through the news
center, the fire department publishes press releases, fact
sheets and public safety information.
News on events such as fires, major car accidents,
hazardous materials incidents and other critical emergencies
are released on an occurrence basis.
The News Center also produces press and public
information regarding seasonal situations such as protecting
yourself from heat or cold emergencies, drowning prevention,
severe weather and fire safety tips.
During weather emergencies the News Center
actively keeps the public informed about events and changes
in our weather status.
Through the use of the City of Plantation's
PHIL (Plantation Help & Information Line) system and
website, and in conjunction with Broward County's Emergency
Management
team, the news center keeps residents and businesses informed
of the status of approaching storms, weather and flooding
conditions and recovery information, if necessary.
Members of the media may reach the News Center
by calling (954) 797-2150 during business hours or paging
Battalion Chief Gordon directly at (954) 249-INFO. Chief Gordon
can also be reached via e-mail at jgordon@psd.plantation.org.
