The Plantation Fire Department manages and maintains
the Kids Fire Safety House, which is sponsored by the
Broward County Fire Chief's Association. The "House" is
actually a kid-sized mobile home, which includes a kitchen,
living room and an
upstairs bedroom and features simulated smoke, hot doors,
working smoke detectors, a second story escape ladder, a fireplace,
and electrical outlets.
Children experience real-life situations including
waking up in a smoke filled room, planning escape routes,
electrical and kitchen safety, stay low and crawl, check the
door and so much more.
here is also a closed circuit TV system so
parents can observe their children's actions from outside.Although
it is stationed in Plantation, the house is available to
any Fire Department in Broward County.
To arrange for the Fire Safety House to be at your community
event, simply contact your local fire department or Lieutenant
Tony Martins at (954) 797-2150 or tmartins@psd.plantation.org.
