EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

Emergency Preparedness for Your Home
Emergency Preparedness for Your Business

Any time an emergency overwhelms the immediate resources of the City, we identify that as a SIGNIFICANT EVENT  or a crisis.

Crises are placed into two categories: natural or man-made.

Examples of a naturally occurring crisis would be a hurricane, flood, tornado, or earthquake.

Examples of a man-made crisis might be a terror attack, intentionally started brush fire, or a hazardous materials spill.

In some cases, like hurricanes, we have advanced warning of the event and limited time to prepare.  In cases like tornadoes, or certain man-made incidents we may not.

The key to surviving and recovering from a significant event is preparation and planning.

The City of Plantation takes tremendous steps to ensure we are prepared to face any significant event that may occur, within the City. Emergency plans are written, reviewed, and practiced annually.  However, resources are limited and we can only do so much.

Get a planAs a resident of our wonderful City you must also do your part to ensure everyone survives the crisis, receives the necessary assistance, and returns to normalcy as quickly as possible.

As a citizen, you have a responsibility to ensure you, your family, and your business are also prepared.

Making plans when warnings of an impending event are posted is TOO LATE!

You must make your plans well ahead of time.

In the pages that follow we will guide you through the steps necessary to make a plan, to safeguard your home and your family, and to prepare your business for a significant event.

You will also find the following pages and links helpful in educating you, your family, and your employees about severe weather emergencies and how they can prepare as well.
